Mindful Youth Partner, SONRÍE a EUROPA, Spain

Sonríe a Europa is a dynamic youth-led organization from Sevilla dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and support among young people participating in Erasmus programs. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with studying abroad, and we strive to create a supportive community where mental health is prioritized and destigmatized. Through various initiatives, workshops, and resources, we empower young individuals to thrive mentally, emotionally, and academically during their Erasmus experience.

Short History: Sonríe a Europa was born out of a shared passion among a group of former Erasmus students who recognized the need for mental health support within the program. Drawing from their own experiences and struggles, they decided to take action and establish an organization that would provide resources and a supportive network for future participants. Since its inception, Sonríe a Europa has grown into a vibrant community of advocates, volunteers, and supporters dedicated to promoting mental well-being among young people embarking on their Erasmus journey.

Goal: Our primary goal is to raise awareness about mental health issues among Erasmus participants and provide them with the necessary tools and support to maintain their well-being in their daily life. We aim to:

  • Destigmatize mental health discussions within the Erasmus community.
  • Provide accessible resources, workshops, and peer support networks to address common mental health challenges.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive community where individuals feel empowered to seek help and support one another.

Target Audience: Sonríe a Europa primarily targets young individuals participating in Erasmus programs across Europe and beyond. Our initiatives are tailored to meet the diverse needs of  students from various cultural backgrounds, academic disciplines, and personal circumstances. Additionally, we welcome anyone interested in promoting mental health awareness and advocacy within the Erasmus community, including alumni, educators,  mental health professionals, and policymakers.

Through our collective efforts, we envision a future where every Erasmus participant feels supported, empowered, and equipped to navigate the challenges of studying abroad while prioritizing their mental well-being.
